I'm looking for a new car online. Something with reasonable miles, good shape, and under $6, 000. You can imagine my amazement when [url=http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=186656886&dealer_id=56675167&car_year=1999&search_type=both&make=BMW&model=M3&transmission=&distance=50&make2=&address=27502&advanced=y&certified=&max_mileage=60000&max_price=6000&min_price=1&end_year=2006&color=&start_year=1981&drive=&isp=y&engine=&doors=&fuel=&lang=en&cardist=44#vdptop
]I found this[/url] just 45 miles from my home. There has to be something totally wrong with this thing, right? Well I emailed the seller, and heres his response.

Quote:
Hello,
I want to sell this car fast because right now I am in UK/London and am in divorce with my wife and i need money urgently. So if you are interested contact me soon because i still have the car and all shipping taxes are included in price..The car is in imaculate condition,no damage or defects, it looks just the way showed by my presentation..It doesn`t need any repairs or paint work. All the manuals and the original documents are in English. It is made for US market and has US specs on it .The buyer will receive this along with all papers and recipts that he needs to register it in his name.He will receive the TITLE,keys, owner manual...It has a Clear Title and it is in Showroom Condition. So that's why the price is so low.
Reply me soon if you still are interested.
Regards

So tell me, is this just too good to be true? Could this be a really big scam? Or am I just a lucky guy who might get a REALLY good deal on a BMW?

My take on this is:

If something looks to good to be true, It usually is!!!

If he was that dsperate to sell it he would have sold it to a dealer, I would stay away from it if I were you...

<:quickly takes down the sellers email address and phone number:>

And by the way, avatars are for people to express themselves, Soft top Beemers are for homo's

hm... sounds like the makings of a scam. Be careful if you decide to pursue further. If he asks to do payment through western union or some type of escrow service you've never heard of then it may well be a scam.

I checked the link and the listing says Spring Hope, NC. But he says he's in the UK? hm...

Also I reversed look-up'ed the phone # in the ad. It turns up as a Midvale, Utah # hm....

So let's get this straight...

Really cheap BMW for sale in North Carolina, but he's currently in the UK, with a Utah phone # as a contact #?

Sounds fishy to me.

Ive seen countless ads like this were someone is out of the country at the moment, has a car nowhere near where they are or the contact number is and its going REALLY cheap. Avoid this scam like herpes and possibly inform your local athorities.

that's a huge scam. if you can't test drive the car or see it it's not worth it.

Scam written all over it.

Tell him you have a relative, a big ass brother who is going to come by and check it out for you. If it looks good he will pay him on the spot.

I guarantee he wont reply, and if he does he will offer some sort of reason why he cant meet with your hookup.
