Helps to take the screws out and handles off them it will generally lift off of the door itself

It's been awhile since i've worked on a 2000 civic, but as far as I can recall...just find the screws, then get behind the door panel and pry forward. Honda door panels are usually held on with plastic compression clips. Don't be scared by the pop that sounds like somethings breaking...its just the clip popping out. Usually 1 or 2 might break. But u can usually get by putting it back on without them. Just depends how many break and where. Hope I was some help.
