Whay does it take do long to get uploads verified?

Consider yourself lucky. Most photos take weeks before being accepted or rejected. I imagine these questions must be answered in one of the F.A.Q.s

I was wondering the same thing. I tried to upload a few and I show 0, not even pending?

While no longer a mod, I worked as a picture mod for over a year. There can be as many as 10,000 pictures in the queue at any given time, each one of these pics is viewed and either accepted or rejected. This process takes time, and unfortunately they are not sorted by first submitted, so thats why sometimes a pic is reviewed and accepted right away, and other take time. As for them disappearing, that means they were rejected for 1 of many reasons...mostly likely it was pro or a repeat. And no...the mods can't send you an PM every time they reject a picture.

I've only been a mod for about a month, and not at the same time as sugarpie, but I believe Diz has made it so the pictures show up in a more sequential manner now.

Right now, the queue is at 7755, which is A LOT lower than it was when I started. About a week or so after I started modding pics, we were up to 23,000. Since each one is looked at by a mod, it just takes time to get to them all. I can't see when pics were uploaded to the queue, but judging from when my own uploads are being accepted or rejected by other mods, I think it's about a week right now.

They could have been rejected for any number of reasons. They could have been pro, they could have been of underage folks (or had some in the background, which isn't that uncommon with outdoor and beach shots), they could have been low quality, or they could have been reposts. Or had a watermark cropped off, which we can still frequently figure out.

Anyone know what the average wait time is for uploaded videos? Is it around the same time as uploaded photos?

I'm not sure about this one. There are currently 24 videos in the queue but they also are harder to mod than a picture. Also, you have to had the time for the video to be encoded for the site. But I really don't know how much time it takes (I guess it depends on the length/size of the video).
