I really like the layout of the beta. Its streamlined, not a bunch of crap getting in the way.

True, but it needs a better layout and color theme.

I like the Apple-frontpage as well, at least the top-menu but it's hardly a social-site though. The larger menu at the top is a winning concept though, there's too many small text-menus on the current WBW-layout.
I also kind of like the sidebar-layout of G+ https://plus.google.com/
Again, large, simplistic menu-items.
Some other nice designs/layouts (not really social-sites but still):

http://www.acosmin.com/
http://answers.yahoo.com/
I do like the profile-layout of DeviantArt: http://jonatanraven.deviantart.com/
Using your own profile as a portal to the rest of the site like DeviantArt is quite nice in my opinion. Being able to select blocks allows users to quickly get to where they want and reduce clutter.

2112Pooh: Thanks for the input mate. Hopefully more of the members will respond! I can use all the input I can get.

I especially like how the first one manages to blend both sexy/other without coming off as smutty. Our switch from "entertainment for men..classy" to "we are porn..porn porn..PORN" thing is kinda meh, and yeah.....it's not working great as far as the community goes. Anyway, two sites I like:

You shouldn't pay for a pre-fabricated logo cranked out by some 2nd year Graphic Design student.
You should have WBW design one.
Make a contest out of it.
Get the community involved in branding and creating WBW's future.
...and then, maybe, I don't know, use it?
What's the worst that could happen?
The whole thing gets hyped for weeks with prizes and shit, and then you ignore the contest and all submissions after a lengthy submission and voting process until everyone forgets about it and use your own logo without any community input?
Still, probably better than the t-shirt.
Maybe. We're talking like 32% Logo, 33% T-Shirt, and 35% Hitler Baby AIDs Monster.
So it's still pretty much a wash for which one gets to Eiffel Tower Pol Pot and Albert Fish at the Awful Convention.

Well the logo contest in the past didn't work out that good... so why do it again?

The logo contest worked out great in the opinion of pretty much everyone but 1-2 people.
Up until a certain point when everyone thought the logo contest went to hell, except for 1-2 people.

BTW I have good news for the people who want a mobile/table version of WBW. I have been reading into "responsive webdesign", and I am going to apply that to new WBW. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Responsive_Web_Design

Since WBW's slogan is "#1 in mens entertainment since 2002" Why not have the logo reflect that? For the remainer of this year and into the next year there could be some sort of 10 year aniversary type logo.

I hope IE won't fuck up everything with the use of percentage for div sizes

There are a lot of workarounds for those issues. We could always use IE specific stylesheets. I have downloaded 4 VM's with IE6/IE7/IE8/IE9 to test everything. IE6 has no priority, so will only be to see if it is workable.
omuh 13 years ago
Yeah good luck with IE6 but you're right, most of site dev have abandoned this version (and the users should as well ^^)

1% is still using IE6.. so it's not a big group I should focus on.

Well the alpha as it is isn't finished with the current layout. We are working on a new layout and this will take some time. After the new layout is completed we do a final beta run, before we are going to put everything live.
Going live means that I will start with reinstalling every webserver, every database server, converting the old database to new specification (takes about 8 hours), and then finally put it online and stay awake to fix minor issues when they occur. This will be a effort for almost 24 hours. The minor issues will be more then a week or more to monitor and fix them when they happen.
I am thinking of using my personal page for server/software status, to help people to know what is happening and why or maybe create a page were you can see what is happening.
