I would have thought increasing the amount of pic mods to combat the amount of newbies siging up and uploading pics to their account would be a good way to go. If you only have 5 pic mods working the queue but 10 new people sign up everyday and upload a ton of pictures, the mods won't be able to keep up and the back-dated pic queue will be even worse than it is now

Good luck with that. If you really think newbies are the problem take look at somekids profile. Meanwhile, they've got some mods who can't tell a pro from a 14 year old. Limits - the only solution.

We have enough moderators to keep the queue at a standstill. It was hovering around 23K about a week or so ago. We got more moderators, and it's now a little over 17K.
My solution would be to disable the zip upload for a week or so, so we can get it to a manageable number. Then, since we can easily keep it at a standstill, re-enable it.

there is a 'permanent reject' feature in use at the moment. Only a few mods have that power, since you need people that really know their pics and will not abuse such power. But this is only a new feature, so it is still in its early stages and has stopped alot of reposts come through so far. But once it has been running for a while, we will see better results.

vk's idea is one of the better ive seen, im modding right now and its around 16k.. - 16839 pictures still in Queue...to be exact...and like vk said, just a few weeks ago it was in the mid 20's...so if they did stop letting through zip uploads for a little while, that would work very well to bring the queue down.
