To those that vote 1

First off, where are the stats that let you see how many, if any, vote a particular number?

Second, while I'd say about 75% of my votes are within a point or two of the mean, which I presume to be due to "similar general guy tastes" there are times when I will vote very low (1-3) on a very high (7-9+) photo and wonder "what the hell, are all the guys who voted her BF, because I am about to gag?" Similarly, I have given a very high (7+ - to me in my scale 7 is "smoking hot, makes me ache to look at her" number to girls with 4 or lower averages where I wonder if guys were voting with their eyes open.

I don't agree with Tadzio either. But he has a right to his opinion and his logic. That's the whole concept behind a vote.

What're you talking about? Refusing to assign an arbitrary number value to my graduated likes and dislikes isn't indicative of my ideology. For my own part it's a recognition that the strength of my likes and dislikes (or agrees and disagrees, as in the personality test examplt) often depend on my moods-- which vary from day to day, hour to hour-- and most recent prior stimuli, making graduated subjective judgements unreliable, imo. Wouldn't it be bizarre if political votes were graduated like the pictures here? Vote for a president! Well, Bush gets a 2, Nader a 4, Kerry a 3, Amondson a 1, etc, etc...

If you look at the overall pictures there is more to it than just is the girl hot or not, you have

picture quality
background or setting
angle of the picture
is the model enjoying getting her picture taken Etc.

So actually the ratings can mean a lot of different things to everyone depending on how they look at the picture.

I can't vote on this cause if I dont vote the way you'd like you might try to have me dismembered or something. GET THE PICTURE?

Maybe we should ask us self who we are vote'n for!?! Are we so selfcentered that we are only vote'n for one self and the 0,1 point that we get for it! Or are we speaking our mind on one of the pics uploaded by one of our fellow members who actually cared enough about the site to even upload a pic for all to see!
In my mind, the ones that only care enough to vote 1 or 10 have lost the point of this site. This site is about sharing and helping each other. So please use that extra split second of extra time when you vote and use the whole scale. I know you can do it

I gave 10268 votes, and 10017 were 1.

We all have different tastes. I admit I vote 1 on the fugly ones that made it to the frontpage so I wont have to see them each time i open the site.

I agree to these statements, but both are not important for the issue discussed here.
In my opinion, that applies for most arguments posted here, because it's as simple as that:

People HAVE TO be free to vote on any given picture whatever they want to.
As soon as you start discussing whether a certain vote is justified or not, you made the first step to cut back the freedom of speech.

To summarize:
1. HOT is not HOT
2. The reason for people's votes is irrelevant
