Tagged pictures

With less than 6% of the pictures tagged I'm wondering if there could be some added incentive for the members tagging photos. Maybe if it added to credits, or if members that tagged over a certain amount of pictures per month would be granted sponsorship status. Don't know for sure what (if anything) would work, but it would be nice if more pictures were tagged.

Also, I read that temp tags are only made permanent once 9 others add the exact same tag. If this number was dropped to 3 or so wouldn't there be more tagged photos? With what seems like very few people actually tagging photos it seems like requiring 10 tags on 1 picture is a lot.

Just some ideas.

You already get credits for tagging pictures. But i agree, the ammount of credits you get could be higher.

I stopped tagging after I realized it wasn't applied to the picture. I think dropping the required redundancy to three would help... sponsorship status wouldn't hurt either.

On a lot of the ones I try to tag, I get a couple characters in, and the typing dissappears. And I have retried several times on particular photos. This seems to happen maybe 40% of the time for me. So I am simply not able to tag certain photos. It gets frustrating.

Yeah, the tagging interface could be better.

At the same time, 6% is still an improvement. We're getting closer - despite that new pics come in constantly.

Now how well each of the pictures is tagged is another matter. I've seen several with 1 or 2 tags on them that don't really help much.

Usually if I tag a pic you can see at least 20 or so tags on it. Putting "female, non-nude" doesn't really help a whole lot if those are the only two tags tossed on.

That said I sometimes do toss on lone tags as well, especially for nurse, costume, cheerleader, etc.

The interface could be better, I agree. The discoloration that takes place on the pic when it's being tagged also doesn't help, because it makes it hard to see certain things.

So... It could be better, but it does work. We're catching up on the pics.

As for the typing, the typing will work as long as you don't typo. For example, if you type "Hair-b" then all the options that start with that will come up. Then if a letter is entered that doesn't exist in a tag (like "x" it will vanish because no such tag exists.

You do have to hit enter twice in some cases. On to get it to select the tag you're working towards, and then once more to enter it.

But it also works. There's room for improvement, but it works.

I may have spoken too soon.

For the last few days the tagging system hasn't been working. I figured it was just a temporary thing that people knew about and it was being worked on, but so far it's remained that way.

Just to make sure someone's aware of it, here are the errors I get:

It does seem to add the tag after the fact, but it's locking up and not showing it. In any case, it's not executing correctly.

This has now been fixed.. only after refresh of a page it looks like it isn't tagged, but it is.. only thing is that memcache::delete(); doesn't work anymore.. Hopefully there will be a quick patch, else I have to downgrade to a earlier version of php5-memcache
