I should clarify - It's not censorship If I choose only for myself.

So I'm banned. I'm pretty sure I'm banned. No wait.

I might be a mod now.

Something needs to be done - don't reward comments at all is a start. I like being able to hide them also. Giving them a thumbs down still means having to read them, that's what I want to get away from. They have simply gotten worse over the years and no longer serve any purpose at all. I don't want censorship but I also don't want to look at these infantile comments. I've read enough about taking someone to pound town. - good grief.

Right, and I was responding with my thoughts on your opinion. It is hardly 'semantics'. Censorship is the suppression or prohibition of something. That's part of the definition of the word. You stated an opinion, I responded with my thoughts on that. That is how discussions work.

...

Well, your deduction is incorrect. I was merely pointing out that limiting or placing terms on a discussion is a form of censorship. Nothing more, nothing less. If you feel it was some form of effort on my part to initiate some form of confrontation, then you are mistaken.

As far as hiding comments, what point does it really serve? What value do image comments have for the site/community? Does stating that a girl has large breasts and that a user would like to <insert some implausible act> with them somehow provide extra value for another user's experience on the site? Also, why are negative comments seemingly frowned upon and even removed even though they don't contain what might be considered hate speech towards a particular group or orientation? I just don't see much in the way of positives to recommend keeping comments as they don't seem balanced (allowing positive and negative commentary equally) and I haven't seen (so far) any real positives for keeping them outside of using them as a point mill for a small group.

I am trying to discuss the site and you keep coming back to me, so lets keep this about the site. I neither have the time or inclination to indulge you about your opinion of my opinion. It's not productive for the subject that was started and not why this topic was started.

It seems most people on this thread seem to believe that comments under a picture are pretty pointless - they can be very repetitive and I can only assume that those people who leave so many comments do so because they know they will earn a credit reward for doing so. They can then use these credits to access videos etc.

The best suggestions so far for me are:

- the ability to turn comments on/off
- removing the reward for comments ( via receiving "awesomes" )
- removing comments altogether

We could add a button for "dislike" a comment and hide comments after certain amount of "dislikes".

I have been working on whole new site from the ground up to combat a lot of these issues, but I cannot do anything great without input from you guys.

Hi Diz,

I'm a member and you run a wonderful sight ( pun intended). I am no fan of the regular a hole comments, and would like the chance either to avoid them, or down vote them. Maybe avoiding them is the best option. Thanks, F

I'm enjoying the friendly exchange on this topic.
I used to belong to a forum that allowed you to block comments from individual members who were notorious shitposters. Most of the members preferred that system compared to a blanket ban or no moderation at all.

I can't imagine people would make 100 comments to get a single credit. That's too much of an investment in my time for the small reward.

As I am still working on the new WBW, I am looking into option like hiding comments.
