First off im not very computer literate so please dont be too hard on me
I dont know if this type of thread has been posted, i ran a search but found nothing. I just downloaded Firefox and i am wondering what good extensions i should download with it to make it alot better. I've already downloaded the plug-ins I just need some input for the extensions and whatever else anyone can tell me.
Many thanks in advance.

That's to general of a question. There are many extentions. The ones that are best for you pretty much depend on what you do with your computer.

try this https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/?application=firefox and have a look to see which ones will work best for you

or even have a read of this.

http://www.tweakguides.com/Firefox_1.html

between these 2 you should have enough to go on to make firefox run as quick as is required. I'm viewing this site through firefox and its still in standard form, no mods made yet and it runs pretty quick compared to Internet Explorer.
Hope this helps.

if you get greasmonkey i have a script for it that will allow you to resize the pics on the WBW forums that the forum sizes down

the script is here
http://www.burnstyle.net/wbw/

install the script then click on the downsized pics to resize them to normal

I had a registry tweak which I used to improve speed for loading pages in firefox, but its on my machine at work. will try and find it monday and post if you want. it does seem to make a considerable difference on standard install.

You could try this as well

Faster Firefox

Open Firefox:

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows: (click on text for context menu)

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" (without the quotes) and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

Hope these speed things up.
