Absolutely, NoScript is great, but it's a plugin that most FF users probably only learn about the hard way.

I'm glad to hear that we're going to try to continue support in the next version because pim_f is right, new visitors in particular aren't going to stick around long enough to try to figure out why they can't view the site, they're just going to leave and go somewhere else. Maybe in a couple more years, IE6 will be statistically insignificant, but I certainly don't think it is yet.

Well not exactly. I could got to Vista but that would be like hitting my balls with a hammer for no reason at all. I have stuck with XP as it is a better/older alternative in the MS world. Having said that, dropping WBW support for IE6 wouldn't effect me in the least as I surf using FF3.X. Quickbooks uses IE plus I use it to go to MS downloads for Black Tuesday.

Lol next version of wbw has a lot of features that depend on Javascript.

It allows JavaScript, Java and Flash and other plugins to be executed only by trusted web sites of your choice, e.g. wbw

Dropping support of IE6 won't effect me so I don't have anything to say about that.

From what I've seen, IE8 isn't any better at displaying WBW than IE6 is/was. And I still dislike FireFox. It's slow and doesn't work properly on many sites. WBW is the only place I use it.

IE8 supports CSS2.1 correctly! Does the ACID2 test correctly. So IE8 is a good step forward, and it's much safer and secure!

I'm going to keep it. My treo runs IE6. I use IE7 and 8 on my computer when I have to use IE, but I choose Firefox or Safari before I try out the IE method. hell, I usually hit chrome before I hit the IE method.

Still, I say keep the support because I have to use IE on my treo when I use it.

Next version will have IE6 support as said earlier. No worries! We need people to test it on IE6 however, because we cannot find all the bugs concerning IE6.

I say drop it.
I say lets all drop it and move to better browsers.

If you need it for some particular site / application, dont upgrade to IE 7 or 8 but swith to firefox or opera or safari for your everyday surfing. You will thanks us later when your browsing experience improves drastically.

And we coders will thank god the day we get rid of it!

you suck :P

Haven't seen you for a while! How are you?

On the drop, will take 2-5 years until developers can start dropping IE6 support.

I work as a designer in a web development company; we've already decided that we're going to stop developing for IE6 sometime this year. Its not financially viable to continually adding more and more browsers to our must-support list. Nothing against IE6 or Microsoft, I'm a huge fan of both. But we cant support 3 versions of IE, FF, and Safari with the staff we have and actually get work done for clients.

I hate the zealot assholes that bash on IE6, because again its not MS's fault that it doesn't work for things it wasn't built to do 8 years ago. However, at some point you have to stop supporting older stuff to drive forward. Just like Ford stopped making parts for the 67 Mustang eventually, we in the web community must do so as well...
