Right now there's some asshat that at my last check, had 64 posts (most of which are individual threads) that spammed the fuck out of the boards with what is probably a virus rich link.
At the same time that I know this kind of stuff happens, I also noticed that there were a couple of crew on the site at the same time, some of whom were aware of the problem but didn't seem to be empowered to do anything about it.
I'm just curious as to why that's the case.
I'm not sure how many "picture mods" we have, or "movie mods" or "tag mods" or "forum mods" we have, but all told I would think there are a lot of crew here, it's just that each of their roles are very specific and they're restricted to working within their own area.
I dunno. I just always (not just today mind you) found it fascinating that there were crew actively on the site and well aware of a problem, but who didn't have the ability to solve a problem.
It seems that the crew here is very compartmentalized, so that if something needs to be done in another "area" of the boards, it's very difficult (if not impossible) for a crew member to go help out in that area on an "as needed" basis.
I'm just curious as to why the crew is so compartmentalized, and it makes me wonder what impact that has on the site as opposed to if they were each allowed/encouraged/empowered/entrusted to work outside of just the picture queue in the case of pic mods, or duplicate pics if that's the kind of mod they are, or outside of just forum posts, and so on.
I guess I'm trying to politely say that the crew appears very restricted in their ability to solve problems on the site, and that doesn't seem very efficient to me. I was just kind of looking for more info on that because the quality and efficiency of our community matters to me as well as to the Crew.
So I was just kind of curious why everyone seems so compartmentalized. Might not be any of my business, but I'm curious.
