can we do something about homophobia?

i am getting tired of seeing everyone call everyone fac, gay, homo or any other stupid names

there is a rule against calling girls bitches, whores or whatever.
I think there should be a rule about that too.

I havent reported any post based on this but i will surely love to see that become a possibility.
Calling someone gay and trying to make that an insult is just too stupid and homophobic

I don't think this has anything to do with homophobia...

It's just an insult.

Like saying that you're an asshole.


And that is just as much wrong and grounds for sanctions as is to call a girl bitch or whore if the person who it's targeted to feels insulted. Our rules apply to all insulting and bad language, we want to keep this board clean.

I can only say for myself, but if someone would call me a fag, gay, homo or whatever when trying to insult, I wouldn't give a fuck cause that's the lamest insult there is.

But if someone calls you a fag or something, and you feel insulted, report the post and write in the reason and we will take appropriate actions against the person who insulted you.


But remember to make a difference between "friendly mocking" and insulting...

yes i know the difference and i dont feel insulted at all, not as an individual at least

i am just worried about setting a ground where people can use that as an insult.

calling someone asshole is not the same to me, not until someone show me asshole fighting for their rights, trying to be accepted or at least having identities and thoughts about themselves.

just trying to make the world a better place i guess, at least on my point of view.
same as calling someone [blacklisted], soap or something similar.

this is a good example of something that bothers me and it not even aimed at me

I get your point, but I don't consider it to be an insulting word.
Not to me atleast it isn't.

But every post can be reported for insult and such, and if a post has bothered someone enough to report it, it will be edited or deleted if there's an actual reason, such as that had.

If I call someone a fag it's not because I am homophobic. It's because it's a damn good insult. I have no problem with gays but I still don't want to be a fag. I don't think there has been much if any gay bashing on this site.

good point. i think we'd like to find a good balance though... i think most things are ok in moderation... i think the point he's making is that its too much. i have to agree really, its the worst in the lounge.

That's true. My point is if someone here was seriously wanting to cause harm to gays or anybody we wouldn't put up with it. But calling someone a homo is not homophobic or gay bashing.

Gay and Homo and Fag and Rope Sucker are the oldest cut-downs in the book. If someone calls me that, fine, it doesn't hurt my feelings any.

Profanity is a part of my language. It can be used in moderation here. I feel that's appropriate. We are all adults, aint we?
