Recently I have been increasingly frustrated by having to cruise through page after page of videos under 20 seconds to see what's actually watchable in the video categories. I don't think, as one of the front page polls asked, that we should get rid of such videos altogether: some folks clearly enjoy them enough to collect gobsmacking amounts of them to upload here.
But they aren't really videos either at ten, fifteen, or twenty seconds: some GIFs are longer than that now.
Instead, one solutions that could easily be automated for the mods would be to categorize tiny vids as "Clips" instead of "Videos" and to place them in their own category. Just set something up so that anything that passes the mod queue under twenty seconds, or thirty seconds, or even a minute gets labeled a "Clip."
I'd further propose either decreasing the rewards offered for "Clips" or increasing the rewards for actual "Videos" in order to incentivize uploaders to improve the quality of their submissions.
Thoughts?
