I (somewhat) agree with you. I think that the nudes we're seeing today are much more beautiful. But I think that the explanation is more about WHO was posing. Back then, to be photographed naked carried a massive stigma, at least in many countries, so it was mostly women who were desperate for money or being manipulated for whatever reason. Now, even the USA's "first lady" has posed naked. (not saying she's ultimately beautiful, just that what was once scandalous is now generally accepted.)
