RS logs all IP addresses that DL from its servers. I can only think that your IP address/port has been phished and that it is probably listed on one of the many forums out there for proxy purposes. That can be bad news as they can be downloading anything at all, legal and illegal. Google your IP address and see if it shows up on a forum somewhere to verify it.

I'm not sure how to protect your IP address from being phished myself, I just keep ZoneAlarm Firewall at max settings (stealth levels), and max out all other settings. I'm sure someone else here can tell you what to do to stop this and to prevent it from happening in the future.

no - its more likely that your ISP uses a proxy itself - virgin Media, carphone warehouse (i think?) etc do this. All users in a certain catchment area appear as having the same IP address to Rapidshare.

Sometimes unplugging your modem, leaving for 30 seconds, replugging will reset it to a new one, but not always.

Sadly, the easiest way to solve this is to get an account...

Try releasing and renewing your IP addy? Power cycle your modem and router too.
