Reasons for the above

1) RAR is a proprietary file format for data compression and archiving. (the files are smaller and take less time to download)

By using RAR i can also split large videos into Multi-volume archives (a video over 100 MB cannot be uploaded to Rapidshare.com but if you Split the video into a Multi-volume using .rar format it can be uploaded to Rapidshare.com)

2) The videos are captured using Camtasia or Hypercam and can only be saved as .avi which in turn can be encoded with the great Xvid codec for great compression. (the files are smaller)

So by switching to .wmv I would have to convert all my vids to .wmv and not compressing them would mean that download times for you would double.
