if you bought an electric one you're getting hosed. While electrons may flow freely through the electrical system, they run on either gas (petrol) or diesel. Yes, they are speed limited to 135 but I have had mine going 140 on the 401 (large Canadian highway) while on a decline. The speedo also goes to 140 km/h. Canadian smarts are (currently) all 800cc, 3 cyl turbo diesels.

NO... I actually did some research.. it turns out that these Smart cars are run through electricity. And I just ordered one. Ha

sorry but you are wrong. the smart was an idea by swatch (yes, right, the watch company!) and now belongs wo mercedes or daimlerchrysler. the car is run by a normal fuel engine and not all electric although you can buy it this way!

I did some checking and this is the Smart Car. Maybe you europeans have heard of this car or even seen one. Kinda cool idea, all electric. Only sucky thing is when a big ass suv runs your over. I guess in europe this isnt a problem, but there are a lot of buses over there......
