Parnelli Jones (Mercury) leads Roger Penske (Pontiac) during the 1963 Yankee 300. Parnelli Jones passed away this week age 90, (born in Texarkana, Arkansas, on August 12, 1933, died on June 4, 2024, in his longtime home of Torrance, California). One of the all time great American drivers, he drove (and won) on the dirt , including Baja 1000, as well as the ovals. He won Indy 500, CanAm, NASCAR, TransAm and Pikes Peak. He was a team owner in F1, Indy and Baja desert racing. RIP a true legend.
