Well, Coanda and others were using so called thermojets (jet engine with a piston engine driven compressor). The "modern" jet (turbojet) as we understand it now (with the compressor driven by the gas turbine from the exhaust gas itself), was patented by Frank Whittle in 1930's and for the first time succesfully tested as the main engine on Heinkel He178 in 1939. And the motor Jumo004 which was used on Messerschmidt Me-262 Schwalbe was the first jet motor with the axial air flow (even the famous Mig-15 had the centrifugal compressor)

actually they made the first fighter jet, because the first jet plane was made by Henry Coanda, and yes, he was romanian .....watch discovery for god's sake

i like the colour! i dunno about the car, but their airplanes were state of the art! and yes! they made the first jet plane in the world!
