^that's indeed the weakest point with these...
but just keep an eye out and change the "balls"(7green suspension regulators for the XM, 5 for the BX) every 200.000km and the car ought to give you pleasure for at least a million of miles!
this car i bought in july'05 with 160.000km on it now i'm about 213.000km so you see i travel a lot, but if she gets all the oil and new filters every 10.000km no problems whatsoever...

great car, until the suspension starts fucking up.
i have a friend who owned a BX220, and after a while the suspension wouldn't get off the ground.
but otherwise a great car

Power assisted rack and pinion, 3.17 turns lock to lock, 11.6 m turning circle between kerbs
Brakes
Dual circuit, high pressure hydraulic system with discs all round - ventilated at the front. Brake pressure on rear wheels regulated according to load on rear suspension. Electronic ABS standard on all models.
Suspension
Computer-controlled Hydractive II suspension system with switch on centre console for selection of normal or sports mode. All independent MacPherson type struts at the front and trailing arms at the rear, complemented by front and rear anti-roll bars. Constant ride height maintained regardless of load with lever on centre console enabling variation of ground clearance and facilitating wheel changes.
