I think she is hot cutter or not, I would give her all she needs to overcome her need to cut herself, love, understanding, compassion, support and anything else. cutters have a problem coping with emotional pain, sadness, stress and anger. the act of cutting may bring a brief sense of calm and a release of physical and emotional tension, unfortunately it is usually followed by guilt and or shame and the return of painful emotions. hopefully at some time she got the help she needed to stop hurting herself. cutting is not a choice it is a reaction. self-injury is commonly linked with certain mental health conditions such as borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder as well as eating disorders. I don't think that disgusting is an appropriate word to describe cutters as it is an illness that they did not ask for nor is it something they are proud of. you may think that a tattoo is disgusting too but that is a choice made by the person who got it, it was not forced upon them, they wanted it and they got it and they are likely proud of it with that being said cutters did not ask to have this condition, and they are not proud of it, they are forced to endure it so we need to be compassionate as this is an illness not a choice.
