Relax, the world is NOT running out of oil. (not very long)
Oil production may be slowing right now and the sellable version of the stuff somewhat more scarce than normal, and the price of it is going up so fast you'd need a fucking jet pack just to stay even with it.

I am not going to get into the politics at hand or all the reasons for that rising price at the pump or it's far reaching effects. I just wanted to state the fact that the world's oil fields are NOT drying up. Okay? We're not running out of the stuff. It's just that many of the countries where the oil is located (save Saudi Arabia) don't have their shit together enough to successfully get it extracted and to market. Wars, insurgencies, asshole dictators, corruption, government interference......all of that is what's making it tough for those countries to get production online.
It's not about who has the higher body count......it's about who's right.

im pretty sure that "running out" is a relevant phrase

being that its not a renewable resource.... we're clearly "running out" in a sense, because we're using what we've got.
Open up, I'll give you a taste.

Ah, that explains it! No more restless nights for me! just a quick simple statement with no referenced material to back up what is said, and my mind is once again at peace. Thank you!

Oh, and did you know that the polar bears really aren't dying from the glaciers melting causing a loss of habitat? Its actually because they are highly addicted to heroin and are overdosing in mass numbers.

I'd have to completely disagree. As FeFe said, it isn't renewble and we are burning it up fast.

There is of course reserves that we have yet to find, but even those won't last forever. If you include stuff that we haven't found yet, it may lengthen the life of our reserves, but we're still heading for trouble.

Saudi Arabia (most oil) estimate they have 264b barrells in reserves. They roughly pump 9m barrells a day. 80 years left
Canada roughyl 150 years left. Iraq 158 years left.

Granted they aren't going to run out in our lifetime but they are going to run out soon. Even if we discover small pockets that extend the lifetime we have for oil, we're still going to consume it all within a couple of hundred years.

That's assuming the levels stay current, but we're going to increase our usage with countries like China growing. When Saudi runs out a big burden will fall on everyone else too, so those reservesw ill shrink alot faster.

It might not effect us, or even our children, but it will effect those soon after, which isn't very long.

Other countries pay 35-50 cents a gallon. A great deal we are paying for is State and Federal Taxation... There are planty of oil resources, but the damn alarmists & liberals block every attempt at drilling or refining developments. We are now paying twice as much for corn becuz of the ethenol shit.. WHen will we ever learn that Federal & Government are other words for Greed and Waste.

whats the science on this.
as far as running out.
and it not being a renewable.
how did the oil get to be oil.
Its not magic it just not appear.
so how is it not renewable if through nature it became oil.

Well there are enough alternatives for fuel, most of them working already and ready for mass production. Problem however are governments and big oil companies. Most of this alternative fuels methods will be difficult to put tax on or they bought the alternative method and put it somewhere in a safe.
